Then on July 31, 1993 my mother died unexpectedly of a heart attack at age 61. She had just five months to go before retiring from her job as a second shift custodian. She and my Dad had so many plans… so many unfulfilled dreams…

It was a sorrowful reminder that life really is too short and precious to defer something as important as our dreams. 

A few months after my mother's death, I found myself sitting in an insufferably long staff meeting led by an ego-centric boss that no one liked, much less respected.

I'd been in hundreds of these kinds of meetings before, but on this day I was overwhelmed by the feeling that I was diagonally parked in a parallel universe. That's when it hit me:

"I Don’t Need a New J-o-b. I Need a New Life!"

Perhaps you, too, have come to the same conclusion.

I suddenly realized I needed a life with more balance. A life that included time to spend with the people I love, where I can work at something I feel passionate about. I craved a life that allowed me to decide what time I’d wake up in the morning and how many vacation days I'd need.

That's the day I decided to learn everything I could about how to turn your interests into income.

As far as I'm concerned, life is too short to not spend every day doing something you truly love.

Today, I feel blessed with riches no amount of money can buy. In the bad old days, I used to be jarred out of bed by an alarm clock. Today I wake up when I want.

I have 30 second commute from my bedroom to my home office. When it’s warm outside I work from the porch with its view of neighbor’s pasture and the distant hills.

I set my own vacation policy, take days off when I need them. And if I feel like working in the garden or having lunch with an old friend - I can do it!
